We are the oldest choir in Portugal.

Over 140 years of history made by students from Coimbra.

Who We Are:

Orfeon Académico de Coimbra is a mixed-voice choir founded in 1880. We bring together students from the University of Coimbra, the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, and other higher education institutions in the city.

We welcome everyone who shares our love for music, even if they don’t know how to sing (yet). If you’re studying in Coimbra and want to be part of something bigger, this is your place.

We pride ourselves on being the oldest active choir in Portugal, with a long history of important causes that we continue to embrace.

We also aim to give back to the local community. We organize educational initiatives and participate in social solidarity actions, collaborating with professionals and other groups.

They say that singing drives away troubles. We agree, but that’s not enough.

Develop your voice and confidence by learning to sing.

Make friends by joining a unique group.

Enrich your résumé and develop soft skills.
