Over 140 years of history made by students from Coimbra.
Orfeon Académico de Coimbra is a mixed-voice choir founded in 1880. We bring together students from the University of Coimbra, the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, and other higher education institutions in the city.
We welcome everyone who shares our love for music, even if they don’t know how to sing (yet). If you’re studying in Coimbra and want to be part of something bigger, this is your place.
As a choir, you can expect concerts and tours across the country and beyond.
Our repertoire spans a wide range of styles and eras, from classical works like Handel’s Messiah to epic soundtracks like The Lord of the Rings.
We also organize social events, well-tuned dinners, and post-rehearsal gatherings where we sing a bit more because rehearsal just isn’t enough.
We pride ourselves on being the oldest active choir in Portugal, with a long history of important causes that we continue to embrace.
We also aim to give back to the local community. We organize educational initiatives and participate in social solidarity actions, collaborating with professionals and other groups.
